In an attempt to achieve more, we’d often take on more than we can handle. As a result, we over exhaust ourselves. Sadly, in today’s fast paced world, getting burnout seems to be the norm rather than the exception. If you find yourself in such a situation, here are a few ways to be kinder to yourself.


Positive Affirmations

How we think, act and behave stem from our thoughts. Instead of being critical (I’m so forgetful!), try being encouraging (It’s OK. It happens to everyone, I just have to do better the next time). Practicing positive affirmations on a daily basis helps create a more optimistic mindset. In time, you will be able to translate positive thoughts into words and eventually into actions, effortlessly.


Make Yourself A Priority

If you feel your life is spinning out of control because you find yourself doing everything for everyone, it’s time to stop and re-focus. Putting yourself first may sound selfish, but it’s actually the exact opposite. When you take care of your own needs, everything else will fall into place. You can’t be there for your loved ones if you are not physically, mentally or emotionally healthy.


Schedule in Me-Time

Taking time for yourself isn’t a luxury – it’s an essential part of being a good wife, mother, friend, daughter and co-worker. Having a healthy dose of me-time will make you less edgy and cranky. Treating yourself to a simple massage or just reading your favourite book is a good way to relax and rejuvenate.
